We LWML sisters are continuing to do our Mite-y thing. Scholarships for full-time church workers has been our focus within the Minnesota North District through two mission grants. All eligible applicants share the "Scholarships for Full-time Church Worker Students" award. Men who are preparing to become ordained pastors at LCMS seminaries located in St. Louis and Fort Wayne are given further support through a second grant, "Scholarships for Seminary Students".
That's the basic information...
If you are a person considering full-time church work, we encourage you to apply anytime between now and deadline of May 15, 2023.
The guidelines for application can be downloaded from the link below. Select any of the colleges and universities within Concordia system listed in the right side-bar. Accepted careers are stated within the Concordia curriculum. Some of you aspire to work in schools and congregations within the States while others have a mission vision that is directing them to national or world missions.
LWML ladies of the Minnesota North District are offering both financial and prayerful support. The paperwork for Concordia college or seminary applications as well as the scholarship application is your responsibility. We want to help you begin or continue your Concordia experience.
High school students looking to begin a Concordia program can use the grade-point average currently available through their High School counselor or principal. We encourage you to not wait until May to fill out the scholarship application – why add unneeded pressure to your end-of-high school days. College students are also encourage to not wait until the last moment, and rather submit their application by spring break.
Note that you are to complete the first three pages, which includes an essay with requested information stated on the application. One to two pages is the guideline. The other three pages include a pastoral reference and two non-relative references. References are to be submitted directly to the scholarship chairman.
Scholarships, once awarded, are not automatically renewed but need to be applied for annually.
LWML grants are separate from any other award package that might be offered at your educational institution. Additional support may be apply for through the Minnesota North District LCMS office at Brainerd, MN.
LWML sisters in Mission are of varied ages but our Mites are ageless. You whom God is calling to prepare for full-time church work are of varied ages also; the need is both ageless and endless.
