Welcome! Our district formed the Church Workers Committee to help further the outreach in our own district, churches with resources and information about the mission of the LWML.
I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Church Workers in Mission Committee and I was truly blessed to be able to attend the 2023 National LWML Convention. As a bonus for me I was also able to attend a Church Workers in Mission Seminar and to work at the church workers booth.
It is vital that LWML members initiate a partnership with pastors and familiarize themselves with members of your Congregation. Informing everyone of what LWML stands for is also especially important. Many people are unfamiliar regarding the role LWML plays within the Church, community, and the world.
As a district board we have a committee that welcomes Church workers to the North District by providing them with information at an orientation. The information explains LWML – Who We are, what we do, and provides our Mission Statement, an explanation and history of Mites, and a list of Current Mission grants. At the last orientation there were eighteen new workers. Emails were also sent to these workers a few weeks after the orientation to make contact and make sure they had no further questions or concerns. Two additional Church Workers added after this orientation were sent this information. It is particularly important to continue to build relationships with new workers and continue to support them as needed.
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, (Ephesians 4:11-12)
Per the discussion at the National Convention seminar, participants also were informed that LWML members need to take our involvement with Church Workers to the next step. We need to continue to support these Church workers by helping when needed, communicating with them, and offering support where needed. Woman of LWML must be willing to pray for these workers, assist them as they collaborate with God's people, answer questions regarding LWML missions, and that we are ladies that show interest in everyone and are there to assist when needed.
In summary, new church workers and those church workers and pastors we have known for many years need LWML members to continue to build relationships.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)
